If you are normally drink black tea and you’re looking for a good substitute, look no further – the flavour is similar and you can add milk (we drink it with goats milk and it tastes great). Rooibos, or Redbush as translates from Africaans, was traditionally used by Bushmen of South Africa and is becoming popular as a tasty tea with added health benefits. It is thought to be generally beneficial to the digestive system and is used in the treatment of gastric complaints and allergies (such as hayfever and milk allergies). It has a higher fluoride content (so may be better for your teeth) than black tea as well as lower tannin content and it’s caffeine free – why wouldn’t you give it a try?!
