Our typical process runs something like this - blend new tea - taste - um and ah for a bit - add and subtract herbs and spices to get the flavour we think we want - taste - refine again - disagree about whether nettle should be added - send out to our tasters to get their opinion - drop the unpopular blends - do final tweaks - add the blend to the range - add taster comments to the site.

So the role of the tasters is vital as one, they represent our customers and two, they solve arguments about the need for nettle.

Our tasting club is the home of our tasters. As a member you get

• quarterly tasting packs sent in February, May, August and November - it used to be monthly but feedback from our members suggested that monthly is too often... plus it suits us to space it out a bit!
• each pack will include 3 x 5 to 10g samples - enough to make 5 to 10 cups depending on how much you use.
• 10% off all orders.
• if you send back your comments - either on the site, via email or by post - we will send an extra free sample with the next tasting pack, bringing the total to 4

This last point is important - we really do use comments to help us develop our teas and run the club for this purpose.

One year's membership of the club costs £20, which covers the postage and administration. The good news is that, in addition to the great teas, you'll more than make this back through the discounts we offer members. The club runs from January to December and the charge will fall throughout the year depending on the number of packs you will be due to recieve. If you join in April, for example, we will charge you £15 and send first pack in May. If we forget to update the system and the price we charge is wrong, we'll refund the amount we've overcharged.
